Gandhar Datar

Gandhar joined the MD/PhD program at Baylor College of Medicine in 2017, entering the Cancer and Cell Biology graduate program. He is currently a graduate student in the lab of Dr. Margaret Goodell, where is is studying the mechanisms of HOX gene regulation by mutant NPM1 in acute myeloid leukemia. Specifically, he is collaborating with the Riback Lab to investigate a novel interaction of mutant NPM1 with members of the ribosomal biogenesis complex, the rixosome. After completing his training, Gandhar aims to pursue a career studying hematological malignancies as a physician-scientist. Outside of the lab, he enjoys watching TV and movies, exploring the Houston food scene, and spending time with his wife and cats.
